FALLING ROCK PROTECTION
CRASH TEST CERTIFIED


Deformable falling rock protections are structures produced under UNI-EN-ISO9001:2000 quality certification suitable to prevent phenomena of falling rocks with energy class ranging from 100 to 3.000 kJ.

The energy absorption capacities, MEL (Maximum Energy Level) and SEL (Service Energy Level), were tested and certified by national and international Universities, both on test site equipped with cable car and in vertical fall
.


APPLICATION
Falling rock protections are used for passive types of interventions with deformable interception structures to protect slope instabilities. Thanks to their maximum versatility, these systems can be used along slopes with any kind of ‘rock surface’ to protect, for example, built-up areas, roadways or railways. Furthermore, in conjunction with other passive protection systems (i.e. valley falling rock protections) as well as active ones, they can be installed in spaces of limited size.

ACTIVITY OFFERED
The company's business activities meet the entire demand of the market in question and include the project study led by its own technical staff for the resolution of problems linked to falling rock phenomena and risk of avalanches; the development and marketing of products and articles of high technical performance and quality, certified by various international Universities and Approval Bodies with continuous testing on its own private test field, which meet the most stringent European standards currently in force. The company also does consulting on construction sites, testing on works in progress and at completion, on individual components or manufactured articles.

FUTURE DEVELOPMENT
To improve the existing knowledge in the field of fast-moving landslides and avalanches, with continuous research and development, monitorings and studies in close collaboration with various international Universities and Approval Bodies. To adapt current technologies to future needs, while promoting the development of new ones with the experimentation of modern materials and manufactured articles in order to improve their performance, as well as the technological and maintenance level of the structures in production, thus improving the current safety levels.

GENERAL FEATURES OF SYSTEM

The basic features which optimize the use of the falling rock protection mod. RAV in every environmental condition are:

adaptability to every morphologic and geo-morphologic situation, thanks to the system modularity, the matching of particular special pieces and the versatility of the foundation structures, easily adaptable to the real geotechnical characteristics of the ground;
easy and economical installation, thanks to the system modularity, the easiness of the installation of the single components and the reduced number of drillings;
easy and economical maintenance, thanks to the system modularity and the simplicity of disassembly and assembly of the single components;
flexible system with low entity forces acting on the single components;
contenute limited post-impact elongation with net fence residual height as per Category "A" – ETAG 27 guideline;
free movement of the net fence, thanks to its position as regards the posts and the lack of downstream cables;
excellent response to simultaneous impacts on more net fences or to secondary impacts on the same net fence, due to the link of all the panels and the interaction of the whole front during the impact;
no environmental impact thanks to the transparency of the structure and the structural lightness of its components.


PERFORMANCE FEATURES

The falling rock protection mod. RAV is a structure tested for a maximum energy level from 100kJ up to 3.000kJ, "A" category according to the ETAG 27 guideline.

The dynamic full-scale tests have been performed according to ETAG27 (Guideline for European Technical Approval of Falling Rock Protection Kits - see up), on a 3-field prototype, 30 m in total length and 2,50-5,00 m in nominal height.

The capacity of energy absorption as for MEL (Maximum Energy Level) and SEL (Service Energy Level) have been certificated by the Laboratory of Geology and Geotechnics of the BTU University - Brandenburgische Technische Universitat Cottbus in Cottbus (D) as official and independent authorisation office, in a test field equipped for vertical fall – Certificate BTU 12/06/2009.
